We are back from a weekend in the woods. Friday was a day with the guys. Paul and his friends grilled pork butts for the rest of the guys at a meet and greet night. You can tell it was a meal with men and no women. There was the pork butts, potatoes, and then lots and lots of desert. The day was rather damp, even though they said that it was just going to sprinkle. It poured down rain for over five hours.
Saturday, I went out at first light. I was fortunate to see three does. At first all I saw was back to the left of my stand. Then about twenty minutes later, I saw three does in the same area. I have hunted the same place for over three years. I never noticed that there is a dip on that side of the stand. I went out Saturday afternoon and saw three does again. I also saw a racoon that climbed down a tree and then crossed the creek.
Sunday, I again saw more does. I saw a total of four deer. The first deer I couldn't tell if it was a buck or doe. All I saw was a back and couldn't see the head. I can't wait until next weekend. I will be starting my week long weekend. The picture above is a deer from our back yard.
