I have not posted in awhile because of vacations. It has been a successful year as far as deer hunting. Paul has gotten two nice big bucks. I was lucky enough to get a five pointer and a nice eight pointer. The five pointer was chasing two does. It ran around my stand for several moments until the bigger doe lead the buck to right in front of my stand. I bleated and the buck stopped. I shot and it ran off to the right of the stand. It just stood there and looked at me. I thought, "Did I miss?" I shot again and he ran off. I found him and to me he was a trophy.
Last Saturday, I saw a small spike buck with only one spike. It fed to the left of my stand. I had seen the deer a couple of times before. I looked over to the right and far off I saw a deer. I couldn't see how big the deer was at that time. I watched the smaller buck feed for a little while and then saw a nice buck farther up the hill. I saw that he was legal and saw that I could get a shot. As I looked at it, I noticed that there were some branches in the way. I waited a little longer and then I saw that I had a shot and took it. I was rewarded with a nice eight pointer. That ended the season for both Paul and I. It was very cold yesterday, so I was thankful that I had limited out.
