Hey, wake up!

My boys, Seamus (the border collie) and Leon (Bombay) are very impatient when it comes to getting outside early in the morning. It usually starts with Seamus coming into the bedroom and sitting by the side of the bed. He uses those piercing border collie eyes to will me up. If I do sense him trying to get me up, I often will ignore him. I still want to sleep a few more minutes.

When I don't get up, Leon then will jump off the bed and join his big brother. The two of them will pace in and out of the bedroom trying to wake me up. If that doesn't work, they then will stand in front of the door. Leon is usually in the lead with Seamus right behind them. If that doesn't get me up, then Leon will begin jumping up and down of of the bed.

This reminds me when my sister and I were probably seven years old. On the weekend, my dad would fix either pancakes or French toast for us. My parents like any hard working couple, liked to sleep in until 9:00 a.m. on the weekend. My sister and I like any kids wanted to get up and eat early in the day. After waiting a long time, we would begin getting hungry. One day we decided to remedy the situation ourselves. We gathered up all our marbles and began pitching them through their closed bedroom door. After all of the marbles were rolled under their door, they still did not stir. We then decided that we needed to retrieve the marbles to start over. We used a coat hanger to push under the bedroom door to fish the marbles back out. Years latter my mom shared that my parents were indeed awake and tried to keep from laughing out loud. They just wanted a few more minutes of sleep.
