Searching for History
Today my husband and I went looking for daffodils. When going in to the woods, there are several things that you can look for to discover old home places. One is an old well. Those are dangerous to look for since you can fall in and hurt yourself. Another way is to look for daffodils in late January or February.
It is real neat to me to hike in the woods and find the daffodils. We usually dig a few and bring them back to our yard. The daffodils can be found near old wells or large oak trees. I can use my imagination and think how those before us in the 1860's lived. I know that many of the old home places were built around then. The house near where we hunt was build around 1865 and is still standing. In fact, some of the guys sleep in there at night.
