Cold and Rainy

Yesterday, we got up at 5:15 a.m. and got into the woods. By 7:00 a.m. it was drizzly rain as we set up to see a turkey. By 7:30 a.m. the rain was beginning to really pick up. By 8:30 we decided to give it up and head back. It began to thunder in the distance and we figured the rain was going to pick up.

We decided to go to the shack and change clothes. It felt good to get into dry clothes. By 9:00 a.m. we decided to head to Monticello to see if the Tillman house was open. This is a great old establishment in Monticello that serves Southern style cafeteria style lunches. Of course we were to early for lunch, but they also serve breakfast. The prices begin at $2.50 for an egg, biscuit and your choice of meat. (bacon, sausage or ham) I had the western omelet which is eggs, tomatoes, cheese, bacon, sausage and ham. This comes with your choice of biscuits, Texas toast, or toast. You also get your choice of grits or hash browns. This was all for the low price of $4.50.

The establishment as I said is a fixture in the town. While we were there there were several locals hanging out talking. We overheard them discuss politics, how to inoculate the cows etc. On the walls are old implements used for farming, pictures and a platinum record of Trisha Yearwood. She is a native of Monticello. They are very proud of her success.
