If you have been reading this blog for awhile, you have seen that Paul and I have had a few adventures. I woke up this morning and planned to do some massive grilling. I am going to grill a five pound turkey breast, some venison steaks and meatloaf. (Yes, I said meatloaf!).
When I got up, Paul asked if I wanted to take a ride to the lease and just ride around. I am always willing and ready. We headed off and looked at the tornado damage that was just a few miles away from the house. We then headed to the lease. Paul wanted to go to Buck Track, the lease that we are losing at the end of the week. It also had sustained a great deal off tornado damage. As we drove down the logging road, I was amazed at the amount of damage I saw.
We got to the end of the line, actually Paul said the road was not clear just over the hill. Paul decided that he would just turn around... and that's where the trouble began. We were in the newer truck in four wheel low. He backed up and then tried to go forward. The truck just spun it's wheels. Paul tried a few more time to no avail. Paul said "Well I don't have my come along so I hope we can get out of here." He had me get in the driver's side while he rocked the truck from the back. We tried that for awhile and then decided to use some logs. That didn't work so then we began to pick up rocks and throwing it in the hole at the front back tire to give some traction. We worked for another five minutes while I prayed and dreaded the long walk to a phone. We finally got the truck to move forward and we were out of the hole. I continued to pray until we got to the county road. Next time I might just hesitate when Paul says lets go for a drive.....
