Well for the last few days, I have been trying to move into the 21st century. I upgraded my Internet service from dial-up to DSL. That took about an hour to come up but I need to upgrade my protection software. Upgrading took several hours and once I was able to get the old desktop running at a faster speed... I thought I was ready to establish a wireless network.
Of course, things didn't really go as plan. I thought I would just plug in the Ethernet cable into the new router and it would work. It didn't work because I selected the wrong type. I then thought I need to bridge my DSL router. I found out after 4 hours. Yes, I said 4 hours to figure out that I didn't not need to bridge the router. It took several calls to Earthlink support and chats to undo what I did and then work through setting up the wireless network. I did it though. I am not intimately familiar with the workings of the DSL modem and wirless router. Now for my next day off, I plan to play and maybe go fishing.
